The company said the valuation reflects the traction gained by UPKL 2024, which featured eight teams and recorded viewership across television and digital platforms. It added that the league has drawn interest from audiences in smaller towns and cities, contributing to its early growth.
According to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) data cited by the company, the league reached over 30 million television viewers and generated 300 million digital impressions. Broadcast partners included Sony Sports Network (Sports Ten 1 and Ten 3), DD Sports, and FanCode.
SJ Uplift Kabaddi, which owns and operates the league, said it is focused on developing regional sports leagues with national scale and long-term ambitions.
Sambhav Jain, Director and Founder of SJ Uplift Kabaddi, said, “This valuation is a reflection of the growing popularity and resonance of our leagues, especially UPKL. It reaffirms our belief in the power of grassroots sports and the untapped potential of regional talent. The response from fans, franchises, and brands has been overwhelming. Building on the success, our vision is to build a sustainable ecosystem where athletes, fans, and brands come together to celebrate the spirit of Indian sports. As the sport continues to evolve, we are committed to building kabaddi into a globally recognized, professionally managed sport that India can proudly export.”
The company said it plans to continue investing in kabaddi and expand its reach through partnerships and future league seasons.
