Australia wrapped up the ODI series 2–0 with a thrilling two-wicket win over India at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, and it was leg-spinner Adam Zampa who stole the show.

His brilliant 4/60 spell not only derailed India’s batting momentum but also earned him the Player of the Match award for his match-turning performance.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl, Australia struck early but India recovered well through Rohit Sharma’s composed 73 off 97 balls and Shreyas Iyer’s 61 off 77. The duo added stability before Zampa broke the partnership and triggered a middle-order collapse.

Supported by Xavier Bartlett (3/39) and Mitchell Starc (2/62), Zampa’s clever variations and disciplined lines kept India restricted to 264/9 in 50 overs.

Chasing 265, Australia found themselves under pressure with India’s bowlers making regular breakthroughs.

Washington Sundar (2/37), Arshdeep Singh (2/41), and Harshit Rana (2/59) kept the contest alive, but Matt Short’s 74 off 78 balls and Cooper Connolly’s unbeaten 61 off 53 guided the hosts home with 22 balls to spare.

This series also marked the first time Shubman Gill led India in ODIs as captain. While he showed composure in his new role, India struggled to convert starts into a defendable total and fell short in the chase. Gill will look to gain experience from this series ahead of the final ODI in Sydney.
