Sarbananda Sonowal assures Arunachal support to promote sports

ITANAGAR: Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has assured Arunachal Pradesh of all necessary support for promoting sports in the state.

A separate department called Sports Science would be launched in the state soon, Sonowal told Arunachal Pradesh Sports and Youth Affairs Parliamentary Secretary Likha Saaya, an official report said today.

"Though the project has been launched in other states, the new department will be introduced in the university which will focus on the growth of games and sports in the state," he told Saya, who called on him in New Delhi on Monday and discussed youth development projects for the state through various centrally sponsored schemes.

Sayaa apprised the union minister of the requirements to nurture games and sports, development of infrastructures, and introduction of various sports activities in the state, a press release said.

Sonowal said he would visit Arunachal soon to understand its requirements for development of games and sports.
