Sachin Tendulkar, Adani, GMR & JSW buy Pro Kabaddi teams

Mashal Sports, owner and organiser of PKL, finalised the promoters of the four teams – Chennai (consortium of Tendulkar and N Prasad), Ahmedabad (Adani Wilmer), Lucknow (GMR League Games) and Haryana (JSW Sports).

MUMBAI: Pro Kabaddi League ( PKL) has roped in top corporate houses including Adani Group, GMR Group, JSW Group, as well as Sachin Tendulkar and Inquest Enterprises as promoters for four new teams ahead of its upcoming fifth season.

Mashal Sports, owner and organiser of PKL, finalised the promoters of the four teams – Chennai (consortium of Tendulkar and N Prasad), Ahmedabad (Adani Wilmer), Lucknow (GMR League Games) and Haryana (JSW Sports).

ET was first to report that PKL will have four more teams to become India’s biggest and longest league with 12 teams and over 130 matches played over 13 weeks.

Mashal is majority owned by Star India, which also owns satellite rights. Earlier this week, Star India announced a five-year title sponsorship deal with Vivo.
