With Rohit Sharma announcing his retirement from Test cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is now left with the task of selecting a new captain ahead of the upcoming five-match Test series in England. India is set to tour England from June 20.

Several candidates might be under consideration, each bringing unique strengths to the role.

From Jasprit Bumrah to young talent Shubman Gill, who will possibly lead India in Tests?

Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah has previously led India in Test matches and is known for his leadership qualities on the field. However, concerns about his workload and injury history may influence the decision-makers. Nonetheless, his experience and tactical acumen make him a strong contender.

Rishabh Pant
Pant’s record in Test cricket strengthens his case. He has been pivotal in some of India’s most memorable red-ball victories in recent years, including series wins in Australia and competitive performances in England.

As a wicketkeeper-batter, Pant brings energy and resilience, and his on-field instincts have often been praised. He has also shown the ability to lead in pressure situations, making him a serious contender.
