Robin Singh ends 16-year-long relation with Mumbai Indians

Former India all-rounder Robin Singh has officially parted ways with Mumbai Indians, ending an association with the franchise that began in 2010.

Robin announced the development through a social media post on Friday, confirming that he had also stepped away from MI Emirates in the UAE-based ILT20 league.

He clarified that although he had not been part of Mumbai Indians’ IPL support staff since 2022, his association with the franchise’s overseas setup also concluded this year.


“I’d like to share that I have officially parted ways with the Mumbai Indians. Although I have not been part of their IPL staff since 2022, as of this year also with their team in the Emirates league,” Robin posted on X.

Robin also expressed gratitude to the franchise and its supporters for their support during his tenure.

“Thank you to the entire MI family and the fans for the support through this remarkable journey of mine since 2010. Wishing the franchise good luck in the years ahead,” he said.

Role in Mumbai Indians’ success

Robin had been associated with Mumbai Indians since 2010 and played a significant role during one of the franchise’s most successful phases. During his tenure, the team won five IPL titles and two Champions League T20 trophies.

He later took up administrative and coaching responsibilities within the franchise’s overseas operations. Robin served as the general manager of MI Emirates during the inaugural ILT20 season in 2023 before being appointed head of the franchise in 2024.

International and coaching career

A former India international, Robin represented the country in 136 One Day Internationals, scoring 2,336 runs at an average of 25.75 and claiming 69 wickets at 43.26.

Following his retirement, he transitioned into coaching and became associated with multiple T20 league setups around the world.

Before joining Mumbai Indians, Robin had coached Deccan Chargers during the inaugural edition of the IPL, where the team finished at the bottom of the standings.
