Rishabh Pant slams reports claiming he will be released from Lucknow Super Giants ahead of next season

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant slammed a social media user indicating his exit from the franchise after the culmination of the ongoing season.

The wicketkeeper batter, who went for Rs 27 crore in the 2025 mega auction, has had a dismal run in the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Earlier this week, LSG were in a must-win match to keep their bleak playoff hope alive before squaring off against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their home den at the Ekana Stadium. The team were outplayed in all departments and the franchise bowed out of the season after suffering a six-wicket defeat.


Days after LSG's exit, reports surfaced about the franchise's likely intentions to release their Rs 27 crore signing ahead of the next season.

The 27-year-old, however, said that the reports are "fake" in a no-nonsense reply and wrote on X, "I understand fake News gives more traction. To content but let's not built everything around it. Little sense and credible news will help more rather making fake news with an agenda. Thanks have a good day. Let's be responsible and sensible what we put out on social media."


In 12 appearances, Pant has managed just135 runs at an average of 12.27 while barely managing to maintain a strike rate of 100. In the do-or-die clash for his team, Pant returned cheaply for 7(6) after chipping the ball back into the hands of Eshan Malinga.

He has scored just one half century in the entire season, when he scored 63 runs off 49 balls against Chennai Super Kings. However, LSG went on to lose that fixture.
