Rio Olympics 2016: PV Sindhu's journey to become the first Indian shuttler to reach finals
NEW DELHI: After her win at the semi-final win at Rio Olympics, PV Sindhu, the World No. 10 from Hyderabad, will next take on two-time World Champion and top seed Carolina Marin of Spain in the summit clash tomorrow.

The immensely talented Hyderabadi girl has done a notch better than her illustrious senior Saina Nehwal, who got the country its first medal from badminton - a bronze in London 2012.

Born in a family of Volleyball players, Sindhu says she was inspired by her coach Pullela Gopichand's win at the 2001 All England Badminton Championship and chose badminton over volleyball.

It was in 2013 that Sindhu went on to win her maiden Grand Prix gold title after she defeated Singapore’s Juan Gu 21–17,17–21,21–19 in the finals of the Malaysian Open.

In the Denmark Open, in 2015, Sindhu reached the final of a Super Series event.

In 2014, she reached the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games in the women's single category
