India has displayed an impressive performance at the ongoing World Police and Fire Games, bagging more than 100 medals.
The 50-member Indian contingent has won 111 medals: 63 golds, 31 silver and 17 bronze.
With two days still left for the games that began on June 26, India is expected to cross the 130 mark, said Pardeep Bhardwaj, who is leading the team.
Bhardwaj said the Indian contingent has won 31 medals, including 19 golds, in track and field events; 26 in swimming; 18 in shooting; 16 in wrestling; 12 in archeryand six in judo. Two medals were won in other categories.
This is for the first time that the Indian contingent's medal tally has crossed 100. The previous best was at Belfast, Northern Ireland in 2013 when India won 83 medals.
The games are open to active and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel across the world.
They attract nearly 10,000 participants, slightly fewer than the Summer Olympic Games, and exceeding third position holder Commonwealth Games.
