In a dynamic move at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction on Tuesday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph for a staggering bid, setting a new record. Simultaneously, England's all-rounder Chris Woakes found his new home at Punjab Kings (PBKS), clinched for a substantial Rs 4.2 crore.

Woakes, with a base price of Rs 2 crore, saw active interest from Kolkata Knight Riders before landing with Punjab Kings for Rs 4.2 crores. His impactful record in T20Is stands strong, having played 31 matches, scoring 145 runs at an average of 18.12, and claiming 29 crucial wickets. Woakes' overall T20 statistics reveal an impressive performance with 966 runs in 89 innings at an average of 21.95 and a strike rate over 133, accompanied by 160 wickets.

Meanwhile, the bidding war for Alzarri Joseph was intense between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and RCB, with the latter sealing the deal at a remarkable Rs 11 crores. Joseph's prowess in T20s, evident with 121 wickets in 101 matches and standout figures of 6/12, makes him a formidable asset. Notably, his record-breaking IPL performance in 2019 for Mumbai Indians remains unmatched, where he achieved the best-ever figures of 6/12 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Umesh Yadav, the seasoned Indian pace bowler, found a new avenue with Gujarat Titans (GT) after a competitive bidding contest with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He joins GT for a notable sum of Rs 5.8 crores. Yadav's T20 journey includes 12 wickets in nine T20Is and an overall tally of 193 wickets in 186 matches, showcasing his bowling expertise, with his best figures standing at 5/18.
