Rashid Khan spins past Jasprit Bumrah to 150 IPL wickets, now third fastest in history
Rashid Khan became the third-fastest bowler to reach 150 IPL wickets, surpassing Jasprit Bumrah's record, during a match against Punjab Kings. Despite conceding 48 runs in his four-over spell, Rashid's single wicket marked a milestone. Punjab King...

The milestone came during the Gujarat Titans' season opener against Punjab Kings on Tuesday, where Rashid claimed a single wicket.
Despite Gujarat's narrow 11-run defeat, Rashid's performance was enough to push him past Bumrah, achieving the feat in just 122 matches.
The Afghan spinner’s 150 IPL wickets put him ahead of Bumrah, who reached the mark in 124 matches. He now stands behind only Yuzvendra Chahal (118 matches) and Lasith Malinga (105 matches) in terms of speed to this achievement.
Beyond wickets
However, Rashid's impact goes beyond the number of wickets; his bowling efficiency is also among the best in the league. His bowling average of 22.00 is second only to Malinga's 19.79, and his economy rate of 6.73 is only bettered by Sunil Narine, who has an even lower rate of 6.83.
However, in this match against Punjab Kings, he faced a rare setback.
The pitch in Ahmedabad, known for being more favourable to batsmen, saw Rashid struggle to contain the flow of runs. Over his four-over spell, he conceded 48 runs, with an economy rate of 12.00, and took just one wicket—his only highlight of the match.
Rashid’s solitary wicket came when he bowled a tossed-up delivery to debutant Priyansh Arya.
The Kings reign
Punjab Kings were in cruise control throughout the innings, posting a massive 243/5. Captain Shreyas Iyer played a brilliant knock of 97* while Shashank Singh added a quickfire 44*, pushing the total beyond Gujarat's reach.
In the end, though the Titans put up a strong fightback in their chase, they fell short by 11 runs, ans were unable to overcome the daunting target set by Punjab.
