Rajasthan Royals roar into playoffs, crush MI by 30 runs in Wankhede

Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by 30 runs in Mumbai to confirm their place in the IPL play-offs after a commanding all-round performance, posting 205/8 before restricting MI to 175/9 in a high-pressure clash.

Asked to bat first, RR were put under pressure early by Deepak Chahar and Will Jacks as the top order struggled to settle. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 27 before falling to Will Jacks, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi managed only 4 after being dismissed by Deepak Chahar.

Riyan Parag fell for 14 at the end of the powerplay after AM Ghazanfar struck, leaving Rajasthan Royals in early trouble.

RR recovered through a crucial partnership between Dhruv Jurel and Dasun Shanaka, who took the score to 94/3 at the halfway stage. Shanaka played an attacking knock of 29 off 15 balls before being run out after hitting three sixes.

Jurel continued the momentum with a fluent 38 off 26 balls before being dismissed by Corbin Bosch after striking three boundaries and two sixes.

Rajasthan Royals shifted gears in the death overs as Jofra Archer smashed 32 off 15 balls, including three sixes, before being dismissed by Shardul Thakur.

Donovan Ferreira added 18 before Deepak Chahar struck again, but Ravindra Jadeja and Nandre Burger finished strongly with a 30-run unbeaten stand off just 12 balls to take RR to 205/8 in 20 overs.

Deepak Chahar (2/43) and Shardul Thakur (2/41) were the standout bowlers for Mumbai Indians, while Will Jacks, AM Ghazanfar and Corbin Bosch also picked up wickets.

Chasing 206, Mumbai Indians lost wickets at regular intervals and failed to build partnerships, eventually being restricted to 175/9.

Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 0 at 0.4 overs, followed by Naman Dhir for 18 at 2.3 and Ryan Rickelton for 24 at 3.2, reducing MI to 24/3.

Tilak Varma fell for 38 at 5.1, further deepening the collapse as Rajasthan Royals maintained control.

Will Jacks provided resistance with a brilliant 101 off 11.3 overs, but wickets kept falling around him as MI lost momentum in the chase.

Hardik Pandya was dismissed at 149 in the 15.4 over, followed by Corbin Bosch at 152 in 16.3, and Suryakumar Yadav at 17.3.

Deepak Chahar fell at 167 for MI at 18.3 overs as the innings continued to unravel, with Rajasthan Royals maintaining tight control through the final phase.
