Former India head coach Rahul Dravid has declined a bonus of Rs 2.5 crore offered by the BCCI following India's recent T20 World Cup victory in the Americas. Instead, Dravid opted to receive the due amount- Rs 2.5 crore - similar to what other coaching staff members were awarded.

The BCCI had intended to reward Dravid for leading India to the trophy in Barbados by doubling his bonus to Rs 5 crore, matching the players' bonuses. However, as per news agency PTI, the 51-year-old coach preferred to accept an equal amount as his colleagues.

This gesture was more of a goodwill offering than an official decision, as Dravid's term as India coach had technically ended after the previous year's 50-over World Cup held at home.

Nevertheless, skipper Rohit Sharma and the BCCI successfully persuaded Dravid to extend his tenure until the T20 World Cup, believing that the time was too short for a new coach to take on the high-pressure role.

Dravid concluded his stint as India's head coach on a high note, winning the T20 World Cup. Speculation has since emerged about his potential involvement with an IPL franchise as a mentor. However, Dravid appears to be keen on taking a break after over two years in the demanding role before making his next career move.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has appointed former India opener Gautam Gambhir as Dravid's successor for the next three years. Gambhir recently led the Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL trophy earlier this year.
