Rafael Nadal has won his 14th French Open title, taking his career grand slam tally to 22, after seeing off Casper Ruud 6-3, 6-3, 6-0 in the final. Nadal enjoys near-mythical status at Roland Garros, where a statue has already been erected in his honour.

Ruud had progressed through the much less daunting lower half of the draw, and was in immediate trouble when Nadal broke in the second game.
