Punjab Kings pull off record-breaking win, defend lowest total in IPL history against KKR

In a jaw-dropping turnaround that has etched itself into IPL folklore, Punjab Kings scripted history on Tuesday by defending a meagre total of 110 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders in their IPL 2025 clash at Chandigarh.

The 16-run victory is now officially the lowest total ever defended in the history of the Indian Premier League.

After being bundled out for just 110 — a total that looked well below par — Punjab Kings’ bowlers turned the match on its head with a fiery and disciplined effort.


Yuzvendra Chahal led the attack with a four-wicket haul, while Marco Jansen delivered a match-defining spell, picking up three crucial wickets. KKR, who were cruising at 62 for 2 in 7.3 overs, crumbled under pressure and were dismissed for 95 in 15.1 overs.

A new IPL record: lowest total defended

With this stunning effort, PBKS broke the previous IPL record for the lowest score ever defended, overtaking Chennai Super Kings’ 116/9, which was successfully defended against Kings XI Punjab back in 2009.
