Proteas win easy despite Rohit's ton
South Africa drew first blood in their tour of India, winning the first Twenty20 by seven wickets. India had piled up 199-5 after being sent in to bat on Friday in Dharamsala, but JP Duminy scored a measured half-century for the Proteas to overhaul the target with two balls to spare.

The target seemed to be too much for the visitors after early aggressors Hashim Amla (36) and AB de Villiers (51) fell in the eighth and tenth over, respectively. But Duminy and Farhaan Behardien (32 not out) combined for a 105-run fourth wicket partnership to win it. In the first innings, Rohit Sharma smashed 106 off 66 balls, while captainin-waiting Virat Kohli hit a 27-ball 43 as the hosts waded into the Proteas attack in front of a sell-out crowd of 23,000. Kohli became the first Indian to score 1,000 T20 runs. The pair put on 138 off 74 balls for the second wicket after Shikhar Dhawan was run out for three. The hosts, though, would have been unhappy with the final score as they were coasting at 160-1 in the 16th over before the tourists hit back with four wickets in the final overs. Both Kohli and Sharma were dismissed in the 16th over by Kyle Abbott.
