Pro Kabaddi franchises spent Rs 33.7 crore during two-day player auction

The franchises spent Rs 17.7 crore on the first day of the auction on August 15, followed by Rs 16 crore the next day.

The 12 Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) franchises spent Rs 33.7 crore on the 20 most sought-after Kabaddi players during the Season 11 Player Auction. The franchises spent Rs 17.7 crore on the first day of the auction on August 15, followed by Rs 16 crore the next day.

Bengal Warriorz spent Rs 4.90 crore during the auction, followed by Bengaluru Bulls (Rs 4.94 crore), Dabang Delhi K.C. (Rs 4.12 crore), Gujarat Giants (Rs 4.93 crore), Haryana Steelers (Rs 4.99 Crore), Jaipur Pink Panthers (Rs 4.86 Crore), Patna Pirates (Rs 4.64 Crore), Puneri Paltan (Rs 4.67 Crore), Tamil Thalaivas (Rs 4.96 Crore), Telugu Titans (Rs 4.68 crore), U Mumba (Rs 4.91 crore), and UP Yoddhas (Rs 4.87 crore).

In Category, Tamil Thalaivas and Haryana Steelers acquired Sachin and Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh for over Rs 2 crore, making Chiyaneh the first international player to earn over Rs 2 crore in consecutive years.


Season 11 player auction saw eight crorepatis, six more exceeding Rs 1 crore, with Gujarat Giants, Telugu Titans, and Bengal Warriorz selecting category A players Guman Singh, Pawan Sehrawat, and Maninder Singh.

Players in Category B, such as Bharat and Ajinkya Pawar, were selected by UP Yoddhas and Bengaluru Bulls for Rs 1.30 crore and Rs 1.107 crore, respectively.

Ajith V Kumar became the most expensive player in Category C in this year's Player Auction after he was acquired by Puneri Paltan for Rs 66 lakh; meanwhile, Jai Bhagwan was bought by Bengaluru Bulls for Rs 63 lakh.

Arjun Rathi emerged as the most expensive player in Category D after he was acquired by Bengal Warriorz for Rs 41 lakh. Furthermore, Mohd. Amaan found a place in the Puneri Paltan team for Rs 16.2 lakh, and Stuwart Singh was bought for Rs 14.2 lakh by U Mumba.

After witnessing a record eight players cross the Rs 1 crore mark on Day 1, it was remarkable to see Category C players such as Ajith V Kumar and Jai Bhagwan attract strong bids of over Rs 60 lakh on Day 2. I am extremely happy to see that all franchises have built well-balanced squads, which promises a highly competitive PKL Season 11.”

Mashal Sports and Disney Star, under the aegis and sanction from the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), have built PKL into one of the most successful sports leagues in India. The Pro Kabaddi League has transformed the image of India’s indigenous sport of Kabaddi and its athletes nationally as well as across the globe. After witnessing the participation of many of their players in PKL, several Kabaddi-playing nations have also strengthened their domestic Kabaddi programs.
