Punjab Kings' Priyansh Arya smashed the joint fourth-fastest century in IPL, reaching the milestone of just 39 balls against Chennai Super Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur on Tuesday. He also become the second-fastest Indian to get there, only behind Yusuf Pathan's 37-ball knock.

Further, it is the fastest ever against CSK and the second fastest century by a PBKS batter. David Miller had scored a ton of 38 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The 24-year-old batter ended with 103 off 42 balls and his knock included seven fours and nine sixes. His team managed to score 219/6 in 20 overs, setting a steep target to chase for CSK.

The left hander achieved the landmark in the 13th over of the innings off the bowling of Matheesha Pathirana. He is now the eighth uncapped player in the tournament's history to score a century. He has now joined the likes of Shaun Marsh, Manish Pandey, Paul Valthaty, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Prabhsimran Singh.

Arya made his intentions clear from the first ball of the contest as he smashed a six off Khaleel Ahmed's bowling. The youngster kept on losing partners at the other end, but not once did he show signs of slowing down, taking the wind out of CSK's sails.

Who is Priyansh Arya?

Arya was picked up by Punjab Kings for INR 3.8 crore at the mega auction, a massive increase from his base price as INR 30 lakh.

The left-handed batter gained national recognition after smashing six sixes in an over while playing for South Delhi Superstarz against North Delhi Strikers in the Delhi Premier League. In the match, Priyansh eventually scored 120 runs, including 10 fours and as many sixes.

In the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Priyansh Arya was Delhi's highest run-scorer, amassing 222 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 166.
