President Pranab Mukherjee today congratulated boxer Mary Kom for winning the gold medal at the Asian Games in Incheon.

NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee today congratulated boxer Mary Kom for winning the gold medal at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea and said her achievement is "an inspiration for the youth" of the country.

"Your achievement is an inspiration for the youth of our country. The whole country joins you and your family in celebrating this impressive achievement," the President said in his message.

Mukherjee also congratulated Vikas Gowda for winning the silver in men's discus throw, L Sarita Devi for winning bronze in women's 57-60kg boxing, Pooja Rani for winning bronze in women's 69-75kg boxing, Varsha Gautham for winning bronze in women's sailing and Aishwarya Nedunchezhiyan for winning bronze in women's in sailing.

The President has sent individual messages to all medal winners.

"I wish you continued success in all your future endeavours," he said.
