President congratulates CWG medal winners

NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday congratulated country's weight lifters and judokas who won medals on the opening day of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

In individual messages to Sanjita Khumukcham, Sukhen Dey, Navjot Chana, Sushila Likmabam, Mirabai Chanu Saikhom, Kalpana Thoudom and Ganesh Mali, the President said, "I would like to extend my congratulations for keeping the country's flag flying high. My best wishes to you, for further success in the future."

The opening day of 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow belonged to the weight-lifters and judokas who combined to give India an impressive tally of seven medals straightaway.
