India was 6/1 in their first innings at the Lunch on the second day against Australia in Perth. Before that Australia was bowled out for 326 in their first innings, adding just 49 runs to their overnight total. Australian fast bowler Mitchel Starc provided them with an early wicket by getting out Murli Vijay in the third over of the India innings.

Resuming the overnight score of 277/6, Tim Paine and Pat Cummings held the Indian bowlers at bay for a while before both the players departed in consecutive overs.

Fast bowler Ishant Sharma then had Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood caught behind off back to back deliveries to bring the Australian innings to an end.


Opener Marcus Harris top-scored for Australia with 70, while Travis Head made 58 with the home side losing its last four wickets for 16 runs.

Ishant Sharma took 4-41 and will be on a hat-trick in the second innings. Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav and Hanuma Vihari all got two wickets each.

India is leading the four test series 1-0. India won the first test in Adelaide by 31 runs.
