PBKS IPL 2025: Arshdeep Singh, Liam Livingstone released by Punjab Kings, here is full list of retentions

Punjab Kings have retained only two uncapped players going into the IPL 2025 mega auction, while it has surprised many as the franchise had players like Liam Livingstone, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada and even captain Sam Curran.

The two retained players were the bright spots in an otherwise grim season for the franchise previous year. Interestingly, Shashank Singh has been given Rs 1.5 crore more than the recommended amount of Rs 4 crore for an uncapped player.

With this, Punjab Kings will most likely go into the auction with Rs 112 crore, the highest for any franchise. They will also have four RTMs and can build from the scratch. They have also got Australian World Cup winning captain Ricky Ponting as their head coach.

PBKS 2024 performance

Punjab Kings struggled in the previous season, winning only five of their 14 matches. They finished ninth out of ten teams. The franchise changed captains mid-way through the tournament, after Shikhar Dhawan was injured and never came back. Sam Curran took over the leadership role.

The team had players who could be retained like Liam Livingstone, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Sam Curran, and Jitesh Sharma, but has likely chosen not to. Mathew Short was another key player for the franchise last season.
