A day after opening India's medal tally, sports shooter Manu Bhaker along with Sarabjot Singh have ignited hope of adding another medal in the kitty.

The shooting duo qualified for the bronze medal race in mixed 10 m air pistol, securing the third place with a score of 580.

They will meet Republic of Korea's Oh Ye Jin and Lee Wonho on July 30.


The qualifications marked yet another heartbreak for Rhythm Sangwan and Arjun Cheema as they ended at the 10th position despite a strong start.

Second medal for Manu?

Manu Bhaker on Sunday ended India's 12-year medal drought in shooting at the Olympics. She scripted history by becoming the first markswoman from the country to finish on the podium with a bronze in the 10m air pistol event.

Bhaker boasts a plethora of international medals in her cabinet including gold from the world championships and also been a gold-medallist at the Khelo India Games.

Congratulations and best wishes for the 22-year-old shooter poured from across the country for giving India a cracking start at the Paris Games.

Women's 10 m air rifle debacle
Meanwhile, another heartbreak for India came with 20-year-old Ramita Jindal's campaign ending at the Paris Olympics 2024 as she ended 7th on the points table.

Jindal had qualified for the finals, becoming only the second shooter to reach the stage after her coach Suma in 2004 Athen Games.

Jindal had also narrowly missed her chance at the mixed finals with Arjun Babuta, marking her disappointing run at the marquee tournament.
