Paris Olympics: India's first heartbreak comes with Indian team losing by 1 point in mixed 10m air rifle shooting

The team of shooters Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta lost by 1 point in the 10m air rifle shooting qualifiers at the Paris Olympics on Saturday, marking the Indian contingent's first heartbreak. They ended up at the sixth position with 628.7 while the cut off was dropped to 629.7. Meanwhile, another duo of Elavenil Valarivan and Sandeep Singh stood at 12th position with 626.3.

With this, India has no medals for mixed team 10 m rifle shooting.

In the second relay, Babuta got off to a great start with a sequence that read 10.5, 10.6, 10.5, 10.9, and Ramita finished the second series with 10.2, 10.7, 10.3, and 10.1, their efforts propelling the team into the top 8.

However, they had to do better than what they ultimately did in order to advance to the bronze medal round. China ranked first, Korea ranked second, and Kazakhstan ranked third in the qualifications.

For a team to compete in the medal matches, they must place in the top four.

The shooting action will go on with the men's and women's 10 m air pistol qualifiers are set for 2 pm and 4 pm, respectively.

Stars like Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Cheema, Manu Bhaker, and Rhythm Sangwan will compete in the air pistol qualifiers.
