Pakistan’s boycott of India at T20 World Cup may end after Bangladesh requests Naqvi.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi is set to request Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to lift the boycott of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup match against India, following appeals from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and other cricket authorities, a PCB source told news agency PTI.

The clash against India is slated for February 15 in Colombo, and Naqvi is scheduled to brief Sharif on the latest developments later on Monday.

"Naqvi will brief the PM on the communications he has had with the Bangladesh, Sri Lankan and Emirates cricket boards and with the ICC on the crisis," the source said.

Bangladesh Cricket Board President Amin ul Islam visited Lahore to participate in talks with Naqvi and Imran Khawaja, vice chairman and independent director of the ICC, on Sunday.

According to the PCB source, both the Sri Lankan and Emirates boards have urged Pakistan to reconsider its decision. Islam, while acknowledging Pakistan’s support for Bangladesh cricket, also requested Naqvi to end the boycott.

The source added that, following these discussions and appeals from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Emirates, Naqvi is likely to recommend that the PM allow Pakistan to play against India in the World Cup. However, the final call rests with Sharif, and the PCB will abide by his decision.

During his discussions with Khawaja, Naqvi reportedly raised several concerns.
