WDS Fight Night 18 in Mumbai featured Indian fighters against international MMA talent

Warriors Dream Series (WDS) staged its 18th Fight Night on August 29 at the CIDCO Exhibition & Convention Centre in Mumbai, with Indian fighters competing against athletes from the Philippines and Russia on a 13-bout professional mixed martial arts card.

The event was part of WDS's ongoing effort to provide Indian MMA fighters with opportunities to compete against international opposition. One of the international contests saw India's Jeko Laishram face Kimbert Alintozon of the Philippines in the flyweight division. The card also featured a light heavyweight bout between Tarun M Hiremath and Gaganpal Singh Dua.

Sanjivan Padwal, founder of Warriors Dream Series, said the WDS’s objective is to develop an Indian MMA property with professional standards across fight selection, athlete development, event production and the spectator experience.


“With every Fight Night, we are working towards creating a consistent platform where Indian fighters can compete against international athletes, while building a stronger MMA audience in the country,” Padwal said.

He added that the promotion's longer-term objective is to help Indian MMA reach international audiences.

Sudhanshu Srivastava, founder and promoter of WDS, said the Mumbai event brought together Indian and international fighters and provided athletes with a competitive platform.

“For us, it is important that every edition delivers meaningful matchups while giving fighters a platform to showcase their ability and connect with a growing community of MMA fans,” Srivastava said.
