Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod combined for a total of 1898.0 points and finished second behind the Chinese team, which set a world-record of 1904.2, while hosts Japan finished third with 1897.1 points.

Indian MMA fighter Suchika Tariyal was the nation’s first athlete to secure a medal, reaching the women's Traditional MMA 60kg semifinals.
Maskar was the Indian team’s top scorer with 634.1 points, followed by Valarivan with 633.5 and Vinod with 630.4.
Valarivan and Maskar also secured places in the individual final, placing them among the finalists based on their scores.

Maskar and Valarivan expect a double in the eight-woman individual final to be held later in the day.
The Indian shooting team’s silver is an encouraging start after the country’s team secured a record 22 medals—seven gold, nine silver and six bronze—at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
