Sport of boxing must have new global body to get into LA Games - IOC

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) expressed interest in boxing at the Los Angeles 2028 Games, but requires a new global governing body after removing the International Boxing Association for governance and finance issues.

The International Olympic Committee said on Tuesday it would love to see boxing at the Los Angeles 2028 Games, but it would first need to see the creation of a new global governing body for the sport.

The IOC stripped the International Boxing Association of recognition last year over failure to implement reforms on governance and finance, and it has not included the sport on the LA 2028 Olympics programme yet.
