As the 2024 Paris Olympics kick off, India’s athletes are ready to shine on the global stage with a strong ambition to win medals.

The Indian contingent, filled with talent and determination, is set to display their prowess across a variety of sports, including shooting, hockey, badminton, tennis, and numerous athletics events.

India bagged their first silver because of Neeraj Chopra with his beastly 89.4m throw. The javelin star who was seen as the biggest hope missed the chance to defend his Olympic gold on Friday and settled for silver with a best throw of 89.45 meters in the men's javelin final at the Paris Olympics.


The silver comes after the Indian men's hockey team bagged another bronze, taking India's third-place award to four. The win remains special for Harmanpreet Singh & Co as star goalkeeper PR Sreejesh was playing his last game today.

The campaign started on a positive note with shooter Manu Bhaker securing India's first medal, a bronze, in the 10m air pistol event. The 22-year-old shooter scripted history as she managed to clinch another bronze along with Sarabjot Singh in mixed 10m air pistol event.

On August 1, Pune's Swapnil Kusale bagged India's third bronze in men's 50m rifle 3 positions shooting event, becoming the first Indian to secure this feat.

India's squad, consisting of 117 athletes, will compete in 16 disciplines, including archery, shooting, and boxing. The team, made up of 70 men and 47 women, will participate in 69 events, vying for a total of 95 medals. The contingent also includes a 29-member athletics squad.
