Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam winner, has spoken about his post-retirement plans following comments made by his father, Srdjan Djokovic. At 37, Djokovic remains a dominant figure in tennis and recently added an Olympic gold to his accomplishments at the Paris 2024 Games. Despite hinting that he could compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, the Serbian legend has started planning for life beyond top-level competition.

My love for tennis will never fade away: Novak Djokovic

Speaking ahead of the Shanghai Masters, Djokovic expressed his intention to remain closely connected to tennis even after retiring from the professional circuit. “My love for tennis will never fade away," Djokovic stated. "I have a lot of emotions when I'm playing, and not particularly only in the tournament, but also practice sessions. Sometimes it's not always going your way, but I think my relationship with tennis goes much deeper than a tournament or a year or success or failure.”

Djokovic emphasized that tennis has been an integral part of his life since he was young. “Even when I retire from professional tennis, I feel like I’m going to stay in tennis, stay involved in different roles because I feel like I owe this sport a lot for what it has been giving to me,” he added.

Father's Insight on Djokovic's Future

Srdjan Djokovic recently disclosed more about his son's future plans. According to him, Djokovic intends to return to his hometown, Belgrade, once his tennis career concludes. “When Novak finishes his tennis career, he will live in his city Belgrade, his country Serbia,” Srdjan revealed. He also expressed pride in his son for representing Serbia globally, stating, “I think there is no greater satisfaction, pride, and success than your child spreading the glory of his people and his country all over the world.”

Djokovic's Global Property Portfolio

Though Djokovic plans to settle in Belgrade, his real estate portfolio reflects his international presence. In 2018, he purchased a three-bedroom penthouse in New Belgrade, overlooking Lake Pavlova. Djokovic also owns luxury apartments in New York’s SoHo district, Monaco, and Marbella, demonstrating his global footprint.

Djokovic’s career may not be over just yet, with potential participation in the 2028 Olympics still on the horizon. However, his comments and his father’s revelations indicate that the tennis star is preparing for the next phase of his life, one that will keep him tied to the sport he loves.
