Novak Djokovic defeats Roger Federer to win his 5th Wimbledon title

This was the 48th meeting between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

Djokovic beats Federer in longest-ever Wimbledon final to win fifth title
In a five-set thriller, Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer 7-6, 1-6, 7-6,4-6, 12- 12( 6-3 tiebreaker) to win his fifth Wimbledon title. With this win, Djokovic has equalled Bjorn Borg’s record.

Progressing into the final after defeating Rafael Nadal and Roberto Bautista Agut respectively, Federer and Djokovic faced each other for the third time. Federer was sublime in beating Rafa Nadal in Friday’s semi-final, whereas Djokovic was not tested nearly so much against Roberto Bautista Agut.

This was the 48th meeting between these two. Novak Djokovic leads the head-to-head and won his two matches with Roger Federer last year, beating the Swiss in Paris and Cincinnati. This is their first meeting in 2019.
