PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today congratulated Indian tennis star Sania Mirza on winning the Wimbledon doubles title in partnership with Switzerland's Martina Hingis yesterday.

"Sania has made the people of India proud by winning the Wimbledon doubles title," Kumar said in a message.

An atmosphere of joy and happiness prevails in the country upon Sania being the first Indian woman tennis player to win the Wimbledon doubles title, he said.

The Chief Minister wished her a bright future ahead in her career.

The 28-year-old Indian clinched her first women's doubles title at any Grand Slam event by bagging the Wimbledon doubles title in partnership with Hingis, defeating the second seeded Russian team of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina yesterday.
