Oct 20 (The Sports Xchange) - Arizona Coyotes veteran goaltender Mike Smith was sent home to visit the team's doctors after sustaining a lower-body injury in Tuesday's game against the Ottawa Senators.

Smith underwent an MRI exam on his left leg on Wednesday, but coach Dave Tippett told the Arizona Republic that there's still no diagnosis.

Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Matt Murray signed a three-year contract extension worth $3.75 million per season that begins with the 2017-18 campaign. The 22-year-old was slated to become a restricted free agent on July 1.
