Olympic and world champion Neeraj Chopra has formally ended his decade-long association with JSW Sports as he embarks on a new entrepreneurial chapter with the launch of his own athlete management firm, Vel Sports.

Chopra was first identified by JSW Sports in 2016 through its Sports Excellence Program (SEP), a partnership that went on to become one of the most successful athlete–management journeys in Indian sport. Over the years, the collaboration supported Chopra’s rise to the very top of global athletics.

Fondly known as the ‘Man with the Golden Arm’, Chopra created history by becoming the first Indian to win an Olympic gold medal in track and field at the Tokyo 2020 Games. He followed this with a gold medal at the 2023 World Championships and a silver medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024, along with multiple podium finishes on the international circuit.

While athletes traditionally step into business ventures post-retirement, Chopra has chosen to begin this transition at the peak of his career, with JSW Sports playing a supportive role in shaping this move.

“Working with Neeraj has been an incredible experience for all of us at JSW Sports. His success story reflects our shared philosophy of excellence and purpose. We’re immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together and wish him continued success in all his future pursuits,” said Divyanshu Singh, CEO, JSW Sports.

“Over the last decade, our journey together has been one of growth, belief, and achievement. JSW Sports has played a defining role in my career, and I’ll always remain grateful for their support and vision. As we conclude this chapter, I carry forward the same values into the next phase of my journey,” said Chopra.
