NEW DELHI: Indian Premier League team Mumbai Indians have signed up West Indian fast bowler Jerome Taylor to replace the injured Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga for the rest of the IPL this year.

“Taylor will be available for selection for MI subject to the completion of contractual paperwork formalities. The pacer has previously played in IPL representing KXIP and Pune franchise,” BCCI said in an official statement.

Lasith Malinga, who was Mumbai Indians’ pace spearhead, was ruled out after the medical team found him unfit because of a recurring knee injury. He has played 98 matches in IPL since joining the Mumbai Indians in the 2009 season of the league.

Currently Mumbai Indians are fifth in the overall standings in IPL 2016 with six points from seven games they have played so far. They won three and lost four of these games.
