Mumbai Indians Retention List: Arjun Tendulkar traded out, Sherfane Rutherford signed — full list of released and retained players
Mumbai Indians have made key squad changes for the IPL 2026 mini-auction. Arjun Tendulkar moves to Lucknow Super Giants. Mayank Markande returns to Mumbai Indians in a trade with Kolkata Knight Riders. Markande strengthens the spin attack. These m...

With Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar set to support Bumrah, MI’s pace attack looks fast, fierce and fully loaded for the upcoming season.
Ryan Rickelton, Will Jacks, Mitchell Santner and Corbin Bosch — all of whom proved their worth last season — have been retained, while young spinner AM Ghazanfar will look forward to his debut after missing the 2025 season due to injury.
Breakout stars Naman Dhir, Ashwani Kumar, Raj Angad Bawa, Raghu Sharma and Robin Minz have also been handed another opportunity to light up the Wankhede with their explosive talent.
The franchise has further strengthened its squad by adding Shardul Thakur, Sherfane Rutherford and Mayank Markande — experienced performers who bring depth and balance to the line-up.
However, a few decisions have raised eyebrows. MI released several uncapped Indian players considered promising long-term bets, including left-arm wrist-spinner Vignesh Puthur and Andhra pacer V. Satyanarayana Raju, both known for their potential at the death. Overseas players who weren’t regular starters — Lizaad Williams, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Bevon Jacobs and Reece Topley — have also been released.
MI’s decision to trade Arjun Tendulkar to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) came as little surprise, given his limited appearances across five seasons.
Arjun bid farewell to the franchise on Instagram, writing:
“@mumbaiindians, thank you for the memories. It’s been an honour wearing the badge and being part of the team. Can’t wait to join @lucknowsupergiants, see you soon.”
Arjun, first picked by MI in the 2021 mini-auction for ?20 lakh, made his debut only in 2023 and finished with three wickets in four matches. After sporadic appearances in 2024 and 2025, MI decided to move on.
