Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Amol Kale has passed away due to a cardiac arrest in New York, USA on Monday, reported PTI.

According to media reports, Kale watched the India-Pakistan match in the Nassau County Stadium in New York on Sunday with other members of MCA, including secretary Ajinkya Naik and office-bearer Suraj Samat.

Kale was chosen as the MCA president, after he beat 1983 World Cup champion team member Sandeep Patil in a closely-contested election in October 2022. He also played an important role in doubling Mumbai’s senior men’s match-fees from the next season.

Under Kale, Mumbai's famed cricket team also regained it past glory by winning the Ranji Trophy in the recently concluded 2023-24 season.
