Mudit Dani and Tanushree Das Gupta entered the semifinals of the Junior Boys and Girls singles respectively, at the Jordan Junior Table Tennis Tournament.

NEW DELHI: India's Mudit Dani and Tanushree Das Gupta entered the semifinals of the Junior Boys and Girls singles respectively, at the Jordan Junior and Cadet Open Table Tennis Tournament in Amman.

Mudit defeated Abdulaziz Shulabi Bu of Saudi Arabia 11-7, 10-12, 11-4, 11-8, 11-8 in a thrilling quarterfinal to earn the right to meet top seed Ali Alkhadrawi, also of Saudi Arabia in the semifinals.

In the earlier round, Mudit had blanked out Swede Filip Karlsson 4-0 (11-7, 11-4, 11-4, 11-7).

Tanushree also turned several heads with her excellent performance, particularly when she beat Azerbaijan's Zhou Chuyi in a tense quarterfinal.

The 15-year-old Indian put up a gritty performance to beat Zhou 4-3 (11-8, 7-11, 5-11, 14-16, 15-13, 11-7, 11-8) and go through. She will meet top-seeded French girl, Pauline Chasselin in the semifinal.
