Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma's trouble against left-arm pace in the powerplay this season continued against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday as he was dismissed by Arshad Khan for just seven runs off eight balls at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The Indian ODI and Test captain tried to play a lofted shot on the offside but could not find any timing as he scooped the ball straight to Prasidh Krishna.

Since 2023, the 38-year-old has played 35 innings against left-arm pace and has faced 182 balls. He has scored 268 runs at a strike rate of 147.25. However, he has lost his wicket 12 times at an average of 7.65.


This season has been up and down for the veteran batter. In 11 matches, Sharma has 300 runs under his belt at an average of 30, while striking at 152.28, including three half-centuries.

After Sharma's wicket, MI tried to make a comeback, but GT struck with regular wickets. Suryakumar Yadav joined Will Jacks as MI finished their powerplay at 56/2. The duo added 50 runs for the third in just 26 balls, taking MI to 89/2 after 10 overs.

However, once the two fell, MI collapsed. to 155/8 in 20 overs.
