The video was released to mark the annual ESA game - an initiative started by the MI team in association with the Reliance Foundation. ESA games aim to host over 18,000 children, including 200 with special needs, to witness and support their favorite cricketers in IPL 2024.
"We play today for each other and for the stadium full of kids," MI said in a post on X while sharing the video.
In the video, Hardik Pandya expressed his excitement about the young fans aiming to bring them joy. "I feel very privileged to be party of the game and kind of influence their lives," said Pandya.
Former MI skipper Rohit Sharma said, "We are playing for such a big cause and we want them to go back home with a big smile on their face."
Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly has come out in support of Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya, who has been booed by a section of team fans over captaincy change in the franchise.
Ganguly said it was not the all-rounder's fault that he was given the leadership role.
The former India skipper's comments came ahead of the clash between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
The bottom-of-table position has worsened Pandya's captaincy situation. After being booed in Ahemdabad and Hyderabad, Pandya, who has been under fire since taking over as captain of the Mumbai Indians, was booed by fans even at the home venue - Wankhede Stadium.
Currently, the Hardik Pandya-led MI is yet to secure a win in the tournament, while Rishabh Pant's Delhi Capitals have won only one out of their four matches in IPL 2024. Both teams are positioned at the bottom of the points table and are eager to turn their fortunes around in the upcoming game as the playoff race intensifies.
