Manager Jose Mourinho sacked by Manchester United after a poor run

In a shocking announcement, Manchester United has announced that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect.

"Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect," the English Premier League giant announced today.

"The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future," Man Utd said in a statement.




"A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager," the statement added.

The decision was announced two days after a 3-1 loss to arch-rivals Liverpool that left United 19 points off the top of the Premier League after 17 games.

Club legend Michael Carrick, who now serves as a coach on Jose's staff will reportedly take training this week and might take charge of the team until the end of the season.

The Portuguese coach, who has managed clubs like Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Chelsea to name a few, won the Europa League and the League cup with Manchester United.

Relations between Mourinho and executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, were reportedly strained since the end of the previous season. Mourinho had pushed hard to sign a central defender in the summer transfer window.

Jose had signed a contract extension with the twenty-time English Champions in January this year, committing his future with the club till 2020.

Mourinho lasted for 2 years at United and won two titles, the English League Cup and the Europa League in his first season.
