Lyca Productions, Take Solutions, Ruby Builders among franchisees of Tamil Nadu premier League

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has managed to raise Rs 33 crore from the bidding of eight teams that will play the Tamil Nadu Premier League, with the average price of each team being 3.3 times of the minimum bid price of Rs 1.25 crore. The prices of teams range between Rs 3.3 crore and Rs 5.21 crore.

The franchisees are Lyca Productions, Take Solutions, Chettinad Apparels, Kothari ( Madras), VB Cricket Academy, Ruby Builders, Metronation chennai and Thoothukudi Sports. A total of 17 entities participated for the bidding.

N Srinivasan, former BCCI Chief and current President of the state cricket association, said: " TNPL will give a great opportunity for the players from Tamil Nadu to showcase their talent, rub shoulders with national and international players and will help TNCA to promote cricket at the district level in a big way."

The eight teams will be pooled into two groups of 4 teams each, with each team allowed to play a minimum of six matches. Drafting of players will be held in end July. Each player can be retained by the team for a maximum of three years. This year, there will be 27 matches played in Chennai, Tirunelveli and Natham in Tamil Nadu.
