Former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja, who was part of the 1992 World Cup winning team, rued another loss of Team Pakistan in a World Cup game vs India. Pakistan has never beaten India at the ICC ODI World Cup. Saturday's seven-wicket loss against India at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was Pakistan's eighth consecutive loss vs India in World Cups in a streak that began in 1992. Even when Pakistan won its only title in 1992 it lost to India in Sydney. The trend has continued in 1996, 1999, 2003, 2011, 2015 and 2019.

Ramiz Raja praised Rohit Sharma's men for handling the pressure of a India vs Pakistan match well, a fact that, he said, Team Pakistan should learn from India. "Credit to India for maintaining their presence in World Cup competitions against Pakistan, it's not an easy match for India also because there are emotions involved, there are expectations involved. Then you're supposed to win because it has been happening for so many years that this can get you under a little bit of extra pressure. But they've handled it so well," Ramiz Raja said on the latest episode of The ICC Review podcast.

Ramiz Raja said that the 0-8 record of Pakistan against India in World Cups suggest that "somehow it's a mental block, it's a skill block as well."

The former Pakistan skipper said that the Babar Azam's men should now turn their focus on the remaining matches of the World Cup tournament, though, he admitted that Saturday's humiliating defeat will hurt the Pakistan team.

"It's going to hurt them. It's a scarring, it's a pasting, it's a battering and they've been outpaced and outplayed in all the three departments,” Ramiz Raja said, referring to the Saturday's match. Babar Azam and the senior players will have to rally around some of the young kids, he said.

On Saturday, India routed Pakistan by seven wickets with nearly 20 overs to spare in a one-sided match. Pakistan collapsed from 155-2 (29.3 overs) to 191 all out in 42.5 overs. Later, India skipper Rohit Sharma blazed 86 runs off 63 balls, including six fours and six sixes, as India finished with 192-3 in 30.3 overs.
