Kolkata Knight Riders registered their fourth consecutive victory after defeating Delhi Capitals by eight wickets, powered by a sensational unbeaten century from Finn Allen.

Chasing a target of 143, Allen anchored the innings with an unbeaten 100 off 47 balls as Kolkata comfortably reached the target. His innings included five fours and 10 sixes, with the batter bringing up his maiden Indian Premier League century on the final ball of the match.

The knock also marked Allen’s first IPL half-century, which he reached in 32 deliveries. After beginning cautiously on a pitch that offered assistance to bowlers, the right-handed opener accelerated once he settled at the crease.


At the 10.1-over mark, Kolkata were 81 for 2 in pursuit of Delhi’s total of 142 for 8.

Allen powers Kolkata chase

Allen played a controlled innings during the early stages before shifting gears in the second half of the chase. His aggressive strokeplay ensured Kolkata maintained control of the contest throughout the innings.

The New Zealand batter remained unbeaten at the end of the chase and guided Kolkata to victory with ease.

KKR opt to bowl after winning toss

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and elected to bowl first against Delhi Capitals.

Rahane said the team wanted to assess the pitch conditions before beginning the chase, adding that the surface was difficult to read. He also said the recent break in the tournament had helped improve the team’s mood and momentum.

Delhi Capitals managed to post 142 for 8 at the end of their 20 overs.

Kolkata continue winning run

The victory marked Kolkata Knight Riders’ fourth consecutive win in the tournament, further strengthening their campaign.
