Junior India women lifters bag medals

In the Junior Women's 53kg category, Pramila lifted 76kg in snatch and 101kg in clean & jerk for an overall 177kg to seal the silver medal in her favour.

NEW DELHI: India's junior women lifters, Pramila Krisani and Joti Mal bagged a silver and a bronze medal, respectively at the 17th Asian Youth (boys & girls) and 22nd Junior Women Championships in Doha, Qatar.

In the Junior Women's 53kg category, Pramila lifted 76kg in snatch and 101kg in clean & jerk for an overall 177kg to seal the silver medal in her favour.

Joti's effort of 168kg (70+98) earned her the third position behind Pramila, according to a release by the Indian Weightlifting Federation.

In the Junior Men's category, the Indians failed to make it to the podium as Lalu Taku and Deepak Lather finished 5th and 6th, respectively in 62kg category.

While Taku lifted a total of 250kg (108+142), Lather could lift 246kg (115+130).

Yesterday in the Youth Boys 62kg division, Taku had won a gold, while Lather settled for silver.
