India's former all-rounder Irfan Pathan hosted the Afghanistan cricketers at his residence in Mumbai just before the team played their 'do or die' match with Australia at the Wankhede Stadium.

With his brother Yusuf Pathan, the dinner at Pathan's residence was attended by Rashid Khan, Ibrahim Zadran, Naveen-ul-Haq and other team members.

Ifran Pathan while sharing glimpses of the night used the Bollywood song 'Afghan Jalebi' as a pun for the meet-up with the Afghan team members.



"What a night we had, having these wonderful Afghans at home with my own friends and family." said Irfan on social media platform 'X.'

Well-known singer Adnan Sami for hits such as 'Tera Chehra' was also part of the party. Along with Sami, veteran Bollywood star Suniel Shetty was also present.

"A beautiful evening with the ‘gallant’ Afghan cricket team at Irfan Pathan's home! There were stories, love, laughter, Kebabs, ‘Shola’ & Qabuli Pulao in abundance!!" said the singer on 'X.'


Cricket fans have been watching Irfan Pathan extend love and support to the Afghanistan team from the start. Video of Pathan dancing with the captain Rashid on the ground after the team had one of the historic win against Pakistan went viral on different social media platforms.

In another video, Pathan shared a solo video of him dancing to an Afghanistan song.

"The Afghan team’s performance in this World Cup has shifted the conversation from their bowling to their remarkable batting. Kudos to them for their consistent displays," said Pathan in the caption.

Ibrahim Zadran, who was also present at the party on Tuesday became the first Afghanistan batsman to score a World Cup hundred when he reached three figures against Australia in a group match in Mumbai on Tuesday. The 21-year-old opener faced 131 balls, including seven fours, for what was his fifth one-day international century in 27 games.
