IPL Orange Cap winners list: From Shaun Marsh in 2008 to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in 2026, here's the full list
Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi leads the IPL 2026 Orange Cap race with 776 runs, but Gujarat Titans' Shubman Gill (722 runs) and Sai Sudharsan (710 runs) are in hot pursuit. Both will have a final chance to surpass Sooryavanshi in the upco...

Before the IPL 2026 final on Sunday, Gujarat Titans openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan were the only batters with a realistic chance of surpassing Sooryavanshi's tally. However, Royal Challengers Bengaluru's pace attack ended those hopes early in Ahmedabad. Gill departed for 10 after being dismissed by Josh Hazlewood, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed Sudharsan for 12 inside the powerplay. Their failures at the top ensured that the 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals star remained at the summit of the batting charts.
Sooryavanshi concluded the season with a remarkable 776 runs from 16 innings, averaging 48.50 while scoring at an extraordinary strike rate of 237.31. He hammered 135 boundaries from just 327 deliveries, including an unprecedented 72 sixes. His consistency was equally impressive, as he crossed the 50-run mark six times and produced a stunning century that came off only 36 balls.
Sooryavanshi's six-hitting prowess rewrote the IPL record books. His tally of 72 maximums eclipsed the previous benchmark of 59 set by Chris Gayle in 2012. He also surpassed Gayle's efficiency, clearing the ropes once every 4.31 balls compared to the West Indian legend's rate of one six every 7.73 deliveries during his record-breaking season.
Another major milestone came in Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans, where Sooryavanshi became both the youngest player and the quickest by balls faced to reach 1,000 IPL runs. He achieved the feat in only 440 deliveries, bettering Andre Russell's previous record by 105 balls.
One of the standout aspects of his season was his dominance during the powerplay. Out of his 776 runs, 521 were scored in the first six overs of an innings — the highest powerplay run aggregate by any batter in a single IPL season.
Here is the complete list of Orange Cap winners from every IPL season since the tournament began in 2008.
