The high-voltage clash between the Capitals and the defending champions, RCB, is being held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a devastating powerplay burst, reducing Delhi Capitals to 13/6 in six overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar set the tone early, knocking over debutant Sahil Parakh in the opening over to trigger the collapse.
Josh Hazlewood then turned the screws, striking twice in his first two deliveries to remove KL Rahul and Sameer Rizvi. Tristan Stubbs briefly resisted, denying the hat-trick with a boundary, but Bhuvneshwar returned to have him caught at slip for his second wicket.
There was a brief moment of hope when RCB opted for a review against Axar Patel, but it went in vain with no edge detected. However, Axar did not last long, falling soon after to give Bhuvneshwar his third scalp of the spell.
Hazlewood continued his impressive outing by dismissing Nitish Rana, completing a three-wicket haul. Both Bhuvneshwar and Hazlewood bowled three overs each in a relentless powerplay spell that left Delhi in deep trouble.
