Ben Duckett was sold to Delhi Capitals for ₹2 crore at the IPL Auction in Abu Dhabi, underlining the demand for versatile top-order batters in the T20 format.

Ben Duckett has not played in the Indian Premier League, having gone unsold at multiple IPL auctions despite his experience in T20 cricket. The England left-hander has registered for the IPL on more than one occasion but has not been picked by any franchise so far, leaving him without an IPL debut. Delhi Capitals contacted him to replace the departed Harry Brook, but Duckett declined the offer. He had entered the auction with a base price of ₹2 crore.

Ben Duckett is far more than just an aggressive batter — he is a dynamic top-order stroke-maker who thrives on pace and spin alike and sets the tone in T20 cricket. Duckett’s ability to dominate spinners, find gaps with precision, and maintain a high scoring rate through the middle overs makes him a valuable asset in the shortest format, even though he is yet to make his IPL debut.

Ben Duckett’s bowling has played a very limited role in his professional career and is rarely used in T20 cricket. He is an occasional off-spin option, but teams primarily value him for his batting at the top and in the middle order rather than any contribution with the ball.
