IPL Auction 2026: These are the 10 costliest players in IPL history

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green became one of the costliest buys in Indian Premier League history after Kolkata Knight Riders signed him for ₹25.20 crore at the IPL 2026 auction. With this deal, Green is now the third most expensive player ever at an IPL auction and the most expensive overseas player. He went past earlier records held by fellow Australians Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins.

The big purchase reflects Green’s growing value in the league. He first played in the IPL in 2023 with Mumbai Indians, where he had a strong season. He scored 452 runs, including an unbeaten 100 off 47 balls, and also picked up six wickets. Ahead of the 2024 season, he was traded to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. His time there was mixed, as he was dropped briefly during the season, but he still ended with 255 runs and 10 wickets from 13 matches.

Green now joins a list of the most expensive IPL players, which is led by Rishabh Pant, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27.00 crore at the IPL 2025 auction. Shreyas Iyer follows closely after being picked by Punjab Kings for ₹26.75 crore in the same auction.

Kolkata Knight Riders feature several times among the top buys. Apart from Green’s ₹25.20 crore deal in 2026, they had earlier signed Mitchell Starc for ₹24.75 crore in IPL 2024 and Venkatesh Iyer for ₹23.75 crore in IPL 2025. Pat Cummins was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹20.50 crore in 2024, while Sam Curran went to Punjab Kings for ₹18.50 crore in 2023. In IPL 2025, Punjab Kings also paid ₹18.00 crore each for Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Interestingly, Green himself appears twice on the list, as Mumbai Indians had earlier bought him for ₹17.50 crore in the IPL 2023 auction, underlining his steady rise in the league’s player market.
